In what is become an increasingly popular trend, we were out of the door at Teakwoods hastily to get to a Strange Young Things show. Show time (for their set) was 12:15 - so despite chatting with Andrew and getting out of Teakwoods later than we'd expected, we were still on schedule, hitting downtown Scottsdale at 11:50pm. But, along with the usual line of traffic for parking once you get to Stetson, we could see a familar comotion set to music occuring on the stage at Martini Ranch. Fuck you Scottsdale! Much like Michigan, I'm not that sure about you. Actually, that's not really true. I'm actually pretty sure that I don't like you. [smile]

Knowing that a good portion of the show had probably transpired, we did consider just standing outside and watching the rest of the show out there. But y;know, who the fuck are we kidding? That plan last for all of 30 seconds before we were at the door forking over our $5 to be part of the remaining fun. Thankfully the guys did an extended set, and despite missing a fair bit, we still got our money's worth. And hey, we got to see Dan play with the band, which is the first time in quite a while.

Shelby James & The Crying Shames @ Teakwoods

Tonight we managed to see a complete Shelby James & The Crying Shames show! Thanks to several ongoing comedy of errors, it's been several months since we've seen Shelby play. Ironically, there was no shortage of good live music going on tonight (Ghetto Cowgirl acoustic, Violet Wild - speaking of bands we haven't seen in a while!), but it didn't change the fact that we needed to stay the course. [smile]

The Shames tonight was without Jane, and with a drummer. It wasn't long before they started playing that it was further obvious in how long we've gone between seeing Shelby, so it was definitely great to rectify that.

It was a bit of a short night at Teaks (which goes to the fact that we need and should see Shelby again as soon as we can), but there were certainly some benefits to that. After tracking down Andrew to give him the recording of his acoustic set at Teakwoods that I promised him, it was time to hit the road...
