Excuse Me While I Throw Up All Over Myself

One More Way Jesse Valenzuela Ruined The Band

And for the No Chocolate Cake File, filed under "How Jesse Valenzuela Ruined The Gin Blossoms", let me present you this...

I'll be yours
If you'll be mine
Throw the rope and watch me climb
Rung by rung
Into the sky
We won't fall because we can fly
Are you fucking kidding me? Seriously. I'm not sure I've ever heard a more puke worthy chorus than that. And I've heard a hell of a lot of puke worthy chorus'! I don't know what purity of crack everyone involved in this record is smoking, but it's got to be pretty high.

Maybe Jesse is taking the piss and everyone in the band missed the memo on it, recorded the song and put it on the record! God. No, Jesse is just that hideous of a song writer.

Just a little food for thought, and some background for where I'm going with this.

But for now, please excuse me while I throw up all over myself again. [lol]

Ahh, a nice little chorus. I am sure Robin sang it with a gun to his head, eh?

It's literally the stupidest chorus I've ever read. Everyone, at some point in their life, has to do something truly horrible and against their morals AT WORK. I think this is that point in dear Robin's life. But we all have to eat. I don't like working a corporate desk job, but I have a family to consider.

Yes, I am sure Robin is one missed paycheck from being homeless. Can't be that he/the band liked the song. It's the evil Jesse!

That said, I haven't heard the song. I am sure the vocals are sublime and the melody is nice. I have see far worse lyrics from far more talented people than Jesse.

I'm really not one to listen/interpret lyrics...I use to but no more. I just listen if its catchy/has a good tempo beat, etc.

Could it be that they are several things about the new album that they don't ALL agree on... Album art and name being one of them.

Lauren, I guess that makes you the perfect fan for the Gin Blossoms in 2010. Britney Spears, Miley Cirus and Justin Bieber all have catchy songs with a good tempo and beat, with no originality, artistic quality or depth of lyrical content. If you like this, that is great, but lets be honest that the Gin Blossoms aren't satisfying any gap in that market.

I on the other hand want to be moved by the music and lyrics I listen to. I want to be provoked by music. Artists that do this have my utmost respect and attention. I live for this. But if your music doesn't make me laugh, cry, elated and down right bleed, then I have no use for it - it has absolutely no point.

When I hear a pointless, unspired, corporate song with no integrity, I'm going to bitch a blue streak about it. It does matter if you're Britney Spears, Nickleback or U2. And that goes 10 fold for bands trading off a name that was founded on artistic integrity and the essential elements of rock n' roll. Which brings us all to where are right now.

Unlike the Martin Cizmar's of the world, I am a passionate music fan which also makes me a passionate music critic. I wouldn't have it any other way. The day that I'm not true is the day that I might as well pack it all in and go home. If that day should ever arrive, I hope to hell someone is around to kick me in the ass and snap me the fuck out of it.
