I'm pretty sure that the song writing rule book states that it's not kosher to rhyme a word with...well, itself.

I don't want to lose you now
I promise I'll make it better
And I better
Who does this? I mean, honestly, come on. Admittedly, as bad as it does look, it doesn't look quite as bad in print as it sounds on record. God, hearing it is so jarring.

From the same song, and guilty of exactly the same charge:

This is my life and I want to spend it
With you
How 'bout you?
Enough with I Don't Want To Lose You Now and onto the gem I'm Ready.

I'm ready
I'm so ready
Yeah to get right out of here
Gonna make it disappear
Cause I'm ready
I'm ready
Am I really supposed to listen to this and not get nauseous? I mean, hell, the "ready" ratio in this chorus is higher than even Helen Reddy*, and that's even when including "Reddy" in the "ready" count. Sheesh. Two cycles of this, and I'm about ready to shoot myself in the head.

Honestly, this is some of the laziest song writing I've seen.

And don't even get me started on late 40 somethings writing about being "college gone". Uck. I'm sorry, I didn't grow up in the States - is that even a saying?

Anyways, I'm done. I could honestly spend all day picking out the absolutely terrible lyrics on this album. But it's too easy for it even be interesting, or even fun. And honestly, I think I would end up stabbing myself in the eye if I listened to one more minute of this god forsaken record today. Though, I'm sure there is going to be no shortage of people lining up to buy it when it comes out next week. Sad.

* Obviously, no disrespect to Helen or her Reddy, nor am I actually equating the songs in anyway. Because even Patrick knows how to tastefully play the ready's.
