Holy shit. Just came across a Gin Blossoms version of Lost & Found via AOL.

Sounds great. Not quite the calibre of the Johnson version, but I'll take it. And of course, it's possibly a demo version. Definitely one of the better renditions of those old Scotty songs, and wouldn't have taken a lot of instruction to get it up to par with his version of it.

So, the band did do this song, but we're stuck with what they actually put on No Chocolate Cake? If they'd used a bunch of Scotty songs, it might have come out half worthwhile. I guess, there is no accounting for taste.

It only takes one listen to realize that it (and other songs written by Johnson) are way more superior than the majority of the rubbish they put on the new record. Using the songs that he'd written and didn't use on his solo album could have potentially saved the whole thing.

Anyways, it's cool getting to hear this take on the song. Now, if only some of those other Johnson songs from circa '05 would surface! [wink]
